Hydrate
Now, if you are a woman reading this, I know you are probably saying, “But Lesley, I would be taking a bunch of trips to the bathroom if I drank a lot of water! I know, I know…but hear me out on the benefits.
Benefits of Drinking Water
Healthy skin - Skin cells contain water and not drinking enough can lead to dehydration. This will make your skin dry, wrinkly, and itchy.
Maintains balance in your body - Your body is composed of around 60% water. Water is necessary for digestion, absorption/transportation of nutrients, circulation, creating saliva, and regulating your body temperature.
Appetite suppressant - Drinking water helps reduce cravings. Sometimes you may think you are hungry, but you are actually thirsty.
How Much Water Should I Drink?
Half your body weight in ounces or you can start with 6-8 glasses/day. Slowly increase from there depending on how active you are.
Drink Filtered Water
American tap water contains over 250 different dangerous contaminants. Toxins like pesticides, plastics, medications, metals, chlorine, and fluoride are all in our water supply. These toxins have been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, cardiovascular issues, and reproductive problems. Try to use water filters like AquaTru and Berkey for your home and use stainless steel bottles instead of plastic.
